Learn Swing Dance Lessons

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

When my girl first suggested that we take swing dance lessons together, I wasn’t thrilled by the idea. My mom made me take dancing lessons when I was a kid, and I abhorred it. It was one of the most embarrassing moments of my life. She would go to rock shows with me, if I’d do something for her. I owed her, so I consented to the swing dancing lessons. It took me a while to heat up to the idea. The 1st swing dance lesson that I took brought back all those old distressing memories. My squeeze has always been much more classy than I am and she used to be a natural at swing dance lessons. She took to it like a fish takes to water, or like a flying fish takes air.

I slipped no less than 3 times in the first of the swing dance lessons.

As a matter of fact, it was many months of lessons before I could get through a complete session without falling. I never would have stuck with it except that I did owe her. I never know what it felt like to actually be in a position to dance. All of a sudden I had this sense of joy in each movement. I could move easily, swinging my partner around, throwing her up in the air, and catching her again.

If the swing dance lessons had started slowly, they definitely had ended with a bang. If you’d like to learn how to dance, but haven’t had any good fortune with it, my proposal is to go out of requirement to a mate. This can sound daft, but I never would have succeeded in the swing dance lessons unless I had to. It is straightforward to give in on something similar to that. Many of us are so awkward that it appears like we’ll never be in a position to dance.

The actuality is that if we keep it up, we can master swing dance lessons.
